Why the OnePlus 10T is the company’s flagship phone to go on sale in the US

The insanely powerful OnePlus 10T will be able to use AT&T’s fastest 5G networks; a first for OnePlus phones. In our OnePlus 10T review, we found the phone to be a pretty powerful and capable device, so carrying that performance over to network speeds on more networks is a real plus.

The new OnePlus 10T will work on all three major 5G networks in the US, as well as Bell and Telus in Canada. OnePlus lists support for lower and mid-frequency 5G networks, but not for the more limited (though super-fast) mmWave 5G range.

The OnePlus 10T is now available for pre-order from OnePlus (opens in new tab)Amazon (opens in new tab)and BestBuy online (opens in new tab) for USD $649 / CAD $849. On a strange pre-order schedule, you can get the upgraded device with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage for the same price as the 8 GB/128 GB version, if you pre-order before September 28, but only if you pre-order it. Until September 8, OnePlus is offering the same deal on its own site, but after September 8, you’ll have to pay the full price of $749 / CAD $999 for the upgraded device. However, OnePlus will still use a protective case or an 80W car charger.

OnePlus will start shipping the OnePlus 10T on September 29 and will open normal sales on the same date. The OnePlus 10T is a mid-range update of the OnePlus 10 Pro, that lowers some camera power, but also shaves the price to a friendlier mid-range level. Analysis: signs of a maturing OnePlus

If you want to sell phones in the US market, the key, door, and whole house are the cellular carriers. The more support a company offers across different networks, the more buyers can trust that they’ve been tested and vetted for reliability. OnePlus should not be allowed to sell a phone advertised on AT&T’s network without testing and approval. For a company that was an upstart just a few years ago, this is a great sign and a good step.

This matters because we don’t want to recommend a phone to buyers if we don’t trust the company that makes the phones. OnePlus has a good track record, but it is still a new brand in the company of giants. It may have tremendous parental support, but its presence in the US market is still limited.

The more work we see from OnePlus to gain the trust of US carriers, the more we can believe that OnePlus is maturing as a company, and that makes the brand easier to recommend. It could also mean we’ll see more of the best OnePlus phones, most of which will only be released in markets outside the US
