OneWeb and Eutelsat merge to create ‘global player’ in satellite communications

Rival Satellite Companies OneWeb (opens in new tab) and Eutelsat have announced plans to merge, hoping their combined assets will allow them to better compete with rivals such as Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Amazon’s Project Kuiper.

Part-owned by the UK government, OneWeb is building a constellation of 650 Low Earth Orbits (LEOs) to deliver connectivity to some of the world’s most remote parts, involving consumer services, in-flight Wi-Fi and industrial applications.
